Key Support Organisations for CaLD Young People

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

The ASRC has become the largest provider of aid, advocacy and health services for asylum seekers in Australia. The ASRC work directly with asylum seekers, both living in our community and detention, to provide direct aid and support as they seek refugee status in Australia.

The ASRC also campaigns and lobbies on behalf of asylum seekers and all Australians who want to change the unjust policies that Australia has adopted.

Centre for Multicultural Youth

CMY undertakes a range of programs, projects and policy initiatives aimed at enhancing the life opportunities of young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. 

This is achieved through building community capacity, providing training, client service delivery, distributing information, documenting best practice, and translating practice issues into a policy context.

City of Greater Dandenong Youth Services

 

The City of Greater Dandenong Council has a bunch of things to do to suit you! Arts, music, sports and dance programs and event management training opportunities - just follow the links to get all the details.

South Eastern Region Migrant Resource Centre

The South Eastern Region Migrant Resource Centre is a non profit community based agency that has been in operation for over 14 years. The MRC provides services to all migrants and refugees living in the south eastern region of Melbourne, covering the local government areas of City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas.

The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture

The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture (VFST), or 'Foundation House' as it is also known, provides a range of services to people from refugee backgrounds whom have survived torture or war related trauma.

Foundation House provides direct services to clients in the form of counselling, advocacy, family support, group work, psycho-education, information sessions and complementary therapies. Direct services to clients are coupled with referral, training and education roles aimed at developing and strengthening the resources of various communities and service providers.

Somazone is an Australian website that was developed by young people for young people. Monash Youth + Family Services

 

Monash Youth and Family Services provides a range of services for young people and families in Monash.MYFS offers a number of support and developmental programs. Support programs include: Young Mums' Group and a number of Family Support Programs. Developmental programs include: School Based Programs, Quiksound, RollPLAY Productions, Activate and School Holiday Programs for Children aged 5-12. Youth Project Workers at MYFS offer generalist support to young people aged 10 - 25 years in the City of Monash. They provide information, referral, support, counselling, support groups, employment assistance, recreation, and advocacy.

CMY has developed a free ‘Youth Kit’ for young people wishing to establish or seeking ideas about how to run a youth group. The kit explores issues such as how to recruit members, organise activities and manage finances.

Granted

Granted is a not-for-profit organisation that provides advice to community sector organisations that are developing funding applications. They focus on assisting organisations that aim to make a positive social or environmental impact but which have limited resources to seek funding.
